Case Center Public Astronomy Night -  Saturday June 20th @ 8:00 Pm

Come join us for a Summer Solstice Celebration as we begin the summer with an evening of stargazing.

Members of the Astronomy Club of Tulsa will have telescopes set up to view the Sun, Moon, Planets and stars on the spacious lawn next to the Case Community Center  1050 W Wekiwa Rd, Sand Springs, OK 74063

This event is FREE and OPEN to the PUBLIC but donations are welcome to help us continue "Bringing the Stars to Eyes of Tulsa since 1937". The event will run from 8:00 PM to about 10:30 PM.  This is a come and go family friendly event.  There is plenty of parking at the community center. You may even like to bring a lawn chair and enjoy the sunset.

Before sunset you can view the sun in specially filtered solar telescopes that can show the sunspots and solar prominences.  The 1st quarter Moon will also be visible before sunset and even better after sunset.    The bright planets Venus and Jupiter will be easily visible in the west soon after sunset.  The planet Mercury completes the string of planets lying about 4 degrees below Jupiter.  The Big Dipper is high in the north with its curved handle pointing southward to the bright star Arcturus and onward to Virgo and Leo.   In addition our larger telescopes will allow you to see some rich star clusters and a few galaxies.

Our astronomy club members will have several telescopes set up for viewing but you are welcome to bring along your own telescope or binoculars if you like. There is plenty of room to enjoy an evening under the stars. Please follow the guidelines in our Star Party Etiquitte Document and supervise your children while at the event to help prevent damage to an expensive telescope.
