Come enjoy a night under the stars in our darker rural skies. Now that we have returned to Standard Time the sun sets shortly after 5:00 PM. Winter chill is in the air and temperature drops quickly at our rural hilltop location. A warm coat, cap and even gloves will help you enjoy star gazing on a chilly evening. You may also like to bring a snack and something to warm to drink. Please keep children with your group. Younger children may enjoy a quiet activity of their own. Please leave pets at home since this is a dark area with with people walking around enjoying the telescopes.
Our Astronomy club is a volunteer non-profit organization. Our guests are encouraged to consider a donation to help us with the ongoing expenses so that we can continue to offer opportunities come enjoy the starry night sky.
Please check our WEBSITE HOME PAGE before heading out as events may have to cancelled due to clouds or other weather conditions.
NOTE: Event may be cancelled if forecasts indicate storms moving in or for extreme cold temperatures
As the sky darkens the summer constellations still linger in the west display. The stars of the Summer Triangle linger in the west while the Autumn constellations of Cassiopeia, Andromeda, Perseus and Pegasus are passing overhead. The winter constellations of Taurus and Orion will begin to rise later in the evening. You'll want to see the grand Andromeda galaxy M 31 along with numerous star clusters in the area. Saturn and Neptune are visible close together in the ESE. Our telescopes will provide pleasing views of the star clusters, galaxies and nebula and scattered behind the starry foreground. As a added bonus TWO COMETS may be visible in our telescopes and we should see a few meteors from the Leonid meteor shower that peaks around Nov 17th.
PLEASE NOTE: If adverse weather is nearby, we may cancel or close earlier.
PLEASE CHECK OUR WEBSITE FOR CHANGES DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS
