Each Month during the school year our club holds a general meeting open to both our members and guests. We meet in the spacious Jenks High School Planetarium which has ample space for social distancing. At our meetings you can enjoy presentations topics such as current space exploration, astronomical events and on occasion we get the opportunity to preview the latest planetarium production the students are working on. You also can learn more about past, present, and future club events and activities.
Brad Young will be our guest presenter telling us about completing his years long quest to observe and sketch the 7000 plus celestial sights in the New General Catalog ( NGC objects ) The NGC catalog was complied by John Dreyer in 1888, listing 7,840 deep sky sky objects. These include galaxies, star cluster and nebulae. It built on observations of John Herschel and others.
In addition member John Cameron will share a PowerPoint about his trip to STARMUS 2025 in La Palma on the Canary Islands in the Atlantic. Also, Scott Bratt will be sharing a short program for the Astronomical League's 3I/Atlas Observing Challenge Certificate by imaging 3I/Atlas and doing an outreach activity about it and other interstellar travellers.
