Friday March 17, 2023   Gates Open at 7:00 PM   Daylight Time

We try reserve Observatory nights nearest the New Moon to our CURRENT MEMBERS ONLY. This allows our members to work on their various observing projects, share ideas and help each other with their goals. The gates will open at 7:00 PM. NOTE: The sun sets at 7:32 PM so drive carefully if arriving after dark. If Friday's session is cancelled due to weather, we may try to be open on Saturday if weather conditions improve.   Check website for updates.

PLEASE NOTE: If nighttime temperature is extremely cold, or severe storms nearby we may cancel or close earlier.
Dress warmly – Our Rural area can be much colder after dark..

Venus shines brightly in the SW.   Jupiter is still visible for about an hour low in the SW.

Mars is high in the south as it begins to pass from Taurus into Gemini.

The bright stars of  Orion, Taurus, Gemini and the rest of the winter circle of stars are well placed for viewing in the south. Leo and portions of the Spring sky become visible as they rise in the east.

As a member you can bring family members or a friend that wants to observe with you but no large groups. Please keep minor family members within your observing area with a supervising adult.

To develop your observing skills, you may want to consider trying to earn one of the over 40 well designed observing certificates from the Astronomical League. Check out some of their
